The new flagship smartphone from HTC was revealed yesterday. It’s the one and only “HTC One!” Increased pixel density, speed, processing capability, and an “Ultra Pixel” camera.
First, lets break down the display. At 4.7 inches the full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution is gorgeous. The 468 pixels per inch provide brilliant color that far exceeds the retina display on the Apple iPhone 5, and leaves other competitors in the dust.
Along with having the best resolution, the One is going to be one of the fastest smartphones as well. It is the first smartphone with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, with a quad-core chip running at 1.7 GHz, and will be running Android 4.1.2 with HTC’s new Sense 5. The phone will also have 2GB of RAM and a 2300mAh non-removable battery that will support it’s impressive features. All of this is housed together with a silver or black “zero-gap aluminum unibody” construction.
The camera and sound system have also gotten upgrades. HTC has replaced the word megapixels with “ultrapixels” in reference to the new camera. The new “UltraPixel” camera gathers 300% more light that traditional smartphones and is meant to improve low-light photos and reduce noise. HTC has also introduced a new feature, called the HTC Zoe, that allows you to capture both video and photos at the same time, which you can use to create a highlight reel of the nights events within seconds. Additionally, HTC has used its partnership with Beats Audio by Dr. Dre to increase the sound quality of the HTC One. The One now includes two front firing stereo speakers with BoomSound, a Beats amplification feature, and two dual-membrane microphones for improved audio on calls and recordings.
Adding to the list of new features is the BlinkFeed. BlinkFeed is essentially a flipboard style home screen, that mixes social media updates, calendar events, news feeds and more onto your home screen in set of scrollable panels. For those people that like their plain home screen, there is also the option to go back to the standard Android screen.
With all of these new and improved features, it looks like the HTC One is going to be one of the phones to have this year! The One is expected to be available worldwide in late March in 32 gb or 64 gb sizes.
